Request emergency GP Connect capability if your practice has to close due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Request emergency access to GP Connect capabilities

In response to Coronavirus (Covid-19), arrangements have been made for GP Practices to request emergency access to GP Connect capabilities.

These can be used in the event that a practice has been closed due to a Coronavirus outbreak and patients are being treated at a secondary practice which uses a different IT system.

GP Connect can facilitate direct appointment booking from the affected practice into the secondary site and give clinicians at the secondary site a view of the full patient record. The secondary practice will need to make appointments available to be booked by the closed practice via GP Connect.

How to use this service

This service can be used to set up a simple site sharing arrangement.

Before you start

You will need: 

  • ODS codes of the site that is closed and the site or sites requesting access
  • to confirm that you are the data controller for the closed practice or have gained the permission of the data controller
