GP IT Futures systems and services

GPs, practice staff, suppliers and buyers in integrated care systems (ICS), integrated care boards (ICBs) and commissioning support units (CSUs) can work with us to improve GP IT systems and services.

Expired framework

The GP IT Futures framework expired on 31 March 2023. This means you can no longer carry out new procurements of solutions and services offered under that framework.

Continuity contracts have been put in place to ensure that you continue to have access to purchased solutions and services until September 2027. A replacement framework is in development.

Migrations and mergers can continue providing the integrated care board has a current live call off with the relevant supplier. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

This framework will be succeeded by a new Digital Primary Care (GP IT) open framework. NHS England has already published a planned procurement notice outlining plans for the upcoming framework.

Guide to migrating your clinical system

To help with migration we have developed the Clinical System Migration Guide. The guide is for practices, GP IT delivery partners and ICBs. It will help with planning, preparing for and completing migrations. The guidance currently supports migration between established foundation suppliers. It is not intended for onboarding new suppliers, though some of the steps may still apply.

Approaches to migration may differ by region. This guide provides common strategies to help:

  • reduce the impact on practice staff
  • minimise the amount of manual data re-entry

GP Connect

GP Connect allows GP practices and authorised clinical staff to share and view GP practice clinical information and data between IT systems, quickly and efficiently.

IM1 Pairing integration

Pairing integration is the process that allows any supplier to integrate their system with any principal clinical system through an interface mechanism.

NHS Digital Buying Catalogue

The Buying Catalogue provides a shop window to view and procure clinical information technology systems from the Digital Care Services frameworks.
