This guidance is in public beta

Scaled instances

The Terminology Server can operate in a cluster mode, with multiple instances of terminology servers or (containers) serving a single endpoint.

This is achieved using a load balancer in front of the Terminology Server instances to route these requests. For details on this approach, refer to Horizontally scaled read-only endpoint in Appendix A and configuration of the Terminology Server for horizontal scalability in Appendix B at the end of this document.

The section horizontally scaled read-only endpoint discusses a number of choices and ramifications relevant to release process which should be read prior to reading the procedures in this section if a scaled read-only instance is being used.

[I have left this in but it needs some rewriting]

Zero down time deployments

The procedures we have described in this guidance are written assuming there will be zero down time during deployment. Further information about zero down time deployments are given in Appendix C.

[This has been rewritten and needs checking]
