Uncurated Low Latency Hospital Data Sets for Admitted Patient Care, Outpatient Care, Critical Care and Emergency Care

The Secondary Uses Service (SUS) collects health data required by hospitals for the purposes of planning health care, supporting payments, commissioning policy development, and research. SUS data is used to create the Uncurated Low Latency Hospital Data Set products.

The data in these Uncurated products is more current than in Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) products but does not undergo the same rigorous data cleansing processes. Information provided within these products is not directly comparable to similar metrics in HES, and users should not expect these products to reconcile. Any derived fields have not been assured.

  • CCG_OF_RESIDENCE (Clinical Commissioning Group covering the area in which the patient’s postcode falls where data relates to pre 1 July 2022. Otherwise ICB Sub Location.)
  • CCG_OF_REGISTRATION (Clinical Commissioning Group which has a commissioning relationship with the GP practice which the patient is registered at where data relates to pre 1 July 2022. Otherwise ICB Sub Location.)
  • GP_PRACTICE_CODE_TRACED (The GP practice that the patient is registered at, as found when traced against the Person Demographic Service (PDS).)
  • LSOA_OF_RESIDENCE (The Lower Super Output Area (lowest level without being disclosive) covering the area in which the patient’s postcode falls.) - 2011
