Summary
28 November 2019. Following user and stakeholder consultation, we made several revisions to our data processing and methodology and revised all figures from September 2015 to December 2018 in the General Practice Workforce December 2018 publication. Following later changes to the September 2015 to December 2016 full-time equivalent (FTE) GP locum figures, we revised all affected locum figures in the General Practice Workforce September 2019 publication.
The figures in this publication are no longer valid as they were calculated using the previous methodology and therefore have now been superseded.
More information and the revised figures can be found on the General Practice Workforce September 2019 publication page.
15 November 2017. The provisional information previously contained on this webpage has been removed. They will be replaced by the final data which are being published at the pre-announced time, 21 November 2017 at 9:30am. They are being published as part of the General and Personal Medical Services, England' publication As at 30 September 2017, Provisional Experimental statistics.
Final data March 2017 figures remain available.
Provisional figures always get updated to produce final figures, taking into account the latest Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data, and any other changes to finalise the data. However, an additional specific error has been identified in the processing of the data from the North West that has a greater impact on the accuracy of the provisional June figures at national level. This will be rectified, along with updating the ESR figures in the publication of the final figures for June that are released on 21 November. This will be released alongside provisional September figures and further information on the HEE North West issue in the revisions and issues section.
