Summary

The general practice census is collected each year and records numbers and details of GPs in England along with information on their practices, staff, patients and the services they provide.

This report is one of three that make up the NHS Staff 1995 - 2005 publication. The other two reports are:

General Practice staff, 30 September 2005 - Detailed Results
The detailed results contain further data tables for September 2005 for England, by SHA and PCT.

NB A software error was detected in the Exeter payments and registrations bureau which effected all opt-out data. Therefore, data on GP Practice Opt-outs were revised on 24 July 2006.
