Oberthur SR8 middleware

NHS Digital will be making an update to Card Management Services (CMS) within the Care Identity Service (CIS) application to support a new version of Oberthur middleware. This is to fix the issues currently seen by the registration authority community when performing CMS operations on series 8 Smartcards. New SR8 middleware to support this release will be available from the DIR download site from 13th June from the URL below.

The new Oberthur SR8 middleware installer now supports unattended silent install from the command line to assist ICT support staff in rolling the middleware out to users.

This version of middleware supersedes both SR1 and SR5 Oberthur middleware and RA’s should update their Oberthur middleware at the earliest opportunity as support for these middleware versions will be removed shortly after Oberthur SR8 goes live.

Oberthur SR3 PKCS#11

This is an updated middleware to support the self-renew of Oberthur series 8 Smartcards for non-RA users. This software will be automatically downloaded to the user’s machine as part of the CMS operation and no installation is required.

The release is scheduled for go live on 13th June 2018.
