Current chapter – Troubleshooting and frequently asked questions

Summary

How to resolve issues commonly experienced by users of the endpoint registration service.

1. My system supplier name is not in the ‘Select Manufacturer’ field, how do I add this in?

The list of manufacturers is determined by the organisation that is accessing the EPR Service. For example, if a Trust requires a new endpoint, this should be set up by their system supplier. The smartcard used to set up the connection should have the End Point Administrator role at the required manufacturer organisation.

2. Why am I getting this error and how do I get my certificate?

EPR - no certificate available

This is likely because a Certificate Signing Request  (CSR) was not provided when the request was raised, or the issued certificate has expired. If the details of the End Point are correct (that is - you don’t want to modify anything), you can request a new certificate via the same method as a renewal (Q3).

3. How do I request a new certificate for an existing endpoint?

Steps outlined below:

  1. Click on ‘Manage Endpoint’
  2. Click on the ‘select’ link
  3. Search for the recipient organisation
  4. Select the organisation and press the Confirm button
  5. Locate the required party key, using the filter field if required
  6. Click on the radio button to the left of the party key
  7. Select ‘Issue Certificate’
  8. Check the details and paste a CSR in the new page
  9. Click ‘Issue Certificate’

This will send the request to EMT for approval. When this request is approved, you can then follow steps under 'Retrieve certificate' as normal to retrieve the certificate.

4. I’m attempting to retrieve my certificate, but when I try to select the party key I’m being taken into another screen with no option to retrieve or renew the certificate

Clicking on the party key itself will take you into the details and you’ll have to repeat steps under 'Retrieve certificate' to return to the list. You need to select the radio button to the left of the party key in order to select the ‘retrieve certificate’ or ‘issue certificate’ buttons.

5. The instructions state to select ‘No’ in the ‘Update DNS’ section. What if I want to update the DNS registration?

This functionality is not currently in use and selecting ‘Yes’ in this field may delay the approval of the request. The request will be approved and implemented, minus any requested DNS changes. To implement a DNS registration request please complete and return the DNS Registration request form, which is available from the SA Service Desk ([email protected]).
