Message templates

You can use the example message templates below to tell your patients about the NHS App messaging service.

The first two are SMS templates to inform practices about a trial or a roll out of NHS App messaging in your surgery. The second two templates are for sharing more information using an in-app message.

Please use the templates below as a guide and edit as you see fit.

Message template 1 (SMS) – when your surgery is sending messages as part of a trial

[GP surgery name] can now send messages to the NHS App. Download the NHS App and turn on notifications to take part: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/msg-trial

Message template 2 (SMS) – when your surgery will start sending messages as part of normal service

[GP surgery name] can now send messages to the NHS App. Download the NHS App and turn on notifications to see messages: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/msg-service

Message template 3 (NHS App message) – follow up message

You have a new message from [use either ‘your GP surgery’ or ‘GP surgery name’]. Log in to the NHS App and check your messages in the NHS App Messaging Service.
