Quarterly files have been updated due to the following CCGs being excluded from the CCG-Provider breakdowns: A3A8R, B2M3M, D2P2L, D4U1Y, D9Y0V, M1J4Y, M2L0M, W2U3Z, X2C4Y. There are no errors with previous published data.

The Quarterly Interactive dashboard was made available on 17 February.

Please note the timeseries data in this publication was updated on 02 March 2022 to include revised data, for some providers, for the period September 2020 to May 2021. The core data for June 2021 is unaffected. This is following a one-off resubmission exercise that took place in August 2021 and covered the data period September 2020 to May 2021 inclusive.

Waiting Times

One of the stated targets of the IAPT programme is that for referrals finishing a course of treatment in the month, 75% enter treatment within 6 weeks, and 95% within 18 weeks⁵. These are based on the waiting time between the referral date and the first attended treatment appointment.

92.5% of referrals waited less than 6 weeks to enter treatment

Calculating Waiting Times

In June 2021, this calculation is performed as follows: 

(Count_FirstTreatment6WeeksFinishedCourseTreatment / Count_FinishedCourseTreatment) * 100

(54,021 / 58,421) * 100 = 92.5%

Sub-national waiting times rates are published in the Monthly Activity Data File as columns ‘Percentage_FirstTreatment6WeeksFinishedCourseTreatment’ and ‘Percentage_FirstTreatment18WeeksFinishedCourseTreatment’.

The chart below shows that, nationally, waiting times measures have consistently been above the target, particularly the proportion seen within 6 weeks.
