Data set, Part of

2.1 Proportion of people feeling supported to manage their condition

Summary

Update 2 March 2023: Following the merger of NHS Digital and NHS England on 1st February 2023 we are reviewing the future presentation of the NHS Outcomes Framework indicators. As part of this review, the annual publication which was due to be released in March 2023 has been delayed. Further announcements about this dataset will be made on this page in due course.

Update 20 February 2020:

Corrected 2017/18 data for the breakdowns referenced in the note below is now available in this file. This is in addition to the 2018/19 data that has been published as part of the routine annual refresh.

Update 29 January 2020:

An error has been identified which affects multiple breakdowns for the 2017/18 data period in indicator 2.1. The following data has been removed from the current data set pages; the data has not been removed from historic versions of this publication.

  • Deprivation, ethnicity, long-term conditions, religion and sexual orientation breakdowns.
  • Four lower tier local authorities (LTLAs) contained duplicated data. The data for the affected LTLAs has been removed.

This indicator measures the degree to which people with health conditions that are expected to last for a significant period of time feel they have had sufficient support from relevant services and organisations to manage their condition.

This indicator measures the proportion of people who feel supported to manage their long-term condition.

Some different patterns have been observed in the 2020/21 GP Patient Survey (GPPS) data which are likely to have been impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Statistics from this period should also be interpreted with care.
