Exemption from 'Official Statistics' designation

The Data Quality chapter provides an assessment of the quality of the statistical output of the MHSDS Monthly publication series.  This is set out in reference to the UK Statistics Authority (UKSA) Code of Practice for Official Statistics.

Although the ‘Official Statistics’ designation is stated underneath the publication title above, users should be aware that the designation does not currently apply to this edition of the series.  It does, however, remain applicable to all editions up to and including Performance July 2022.

Further information in relation to this decision is available under the ‘Impact of Cyber Incident on MHSDS data submissions’ heading below.

Impact of Cyber Incident on MHSDS data submissions

Unfortunately, a number of providers of MHSDS data have been affected by a recent cyber incident. NHS England has actively worked with these providers to understand how best to resolve any data submission issues that may have occurred as a result. We also continue to encourage affected providers to reach out to [email protected] as well as their regional Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) teams.

Please read below for full details.

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust (RW4) issue

Data for Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust (RW4) is known to be incorrect in this publication. Due to circumstances outside of Mersey Care’s control, this error has meant that data from April 2022 to January 2023 is now incorrect. As a result of this, data for Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust only includes those referrals to Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services and no other activity.

NHS England are working with Mersey Care to try and resolve the situation. This issue has meant that many national level metrics have reduced and data for the Sub ICBs around Cheshire and Merseyside should be treated with extreme caution. We are expecting this issue to be resolved in time for next month's (Performance January 2023) publication. Figures for Performance December 2022 will likely be restated as part of the 2022/23 end of year refresh.
