Independent Healthcare Provider Workforce Statistics - March 2022, Experimental

Summary

This publication presents full-time equivalent (FTE) figures for staff directly employed in a range of Independent Healthcare Provider (IHP) organisations in England that undertake NHS commissioned work. These IHP statistics are compiled biannually from two data sources: collections via the workforce Minimum Dataset Collection Vehicle (wMDSCV) and extractions from the Electronic Staff Record (ESR).

Please note that the information provided for the IHP Workforce does not represent the entire workforce employed across the whole of the independent sector. The participation rate for the provision of IHP Workforce data has increased over time and we continue to engage with healthcare providers across England to improve these statistics. Note also that these statistics include staff providing both independent and NHS commissioned services at these organisations as these groups cannot be separated out.
