Variation over the sub-Integrated Care Boards
Proportion of cancer patients presenting as an emergency
Across the 106 sub-Integrated Care Boards (sub-ICBs), the minimum proportion decreased from 13.3% in January to March 2022 to 10.6% in July to September 2022 (Table 1). The maximum proportion increased from 28.5% in January to March 2022 to 28.9% in July to September 2022. The interquartile range decreased from 3.8% in January to March 2022 to 3.6% in July to September 2022.

In comparison with pre-Covid levels, for the three most recent 1-year rolling periods, the proportion of cancer patients presenting as an emergency has remained the same for most sub-ICBs (Table 2). Comparing October 2018 to September 2019 and October 2021 to September 2022, the 1-year rolling proportion did not change significantly for 87 sub-ICBs, significantly increased for 9 sub-ICBs and significantly decreased for 10 sub-ICBs.
