Variation over the Cancer Alliances
Proportion of cancer patients presenting as an emergency
Across the 21 Cancer Alliances (CAs), the minimum proportion decreased from 16.6% in January to March 2022 to 15.8% in July to September 2022 (Table 2). The maximum proportion decreased from 22.6% in January to March 2022 to 21.4% in July to September 2022. The interquartile range decreased from 2.9% in January to March 2022 to 1.6% in July to September 2022.

Comparing April 2018 to March 2019 and April 2021 to March 2022, the 1-year rolling proportion did not change significantly for 12 Cancer Alliances and significantly increased for 9 Cancer Alliances. Comparing July 2018 to June 2019 and July 2021 to June 2022, the 1-year rolling proportion did not change significantly for 15 Cancer Alliances, significantly increased for 4 Cancer Alliances and significantly decreased for 2 Cancer Alliances. Comparing October 2018 to September 2019 and October 2021 to September 2022, the 1-year rolling proportion did not change significantly for 15 Cancer Alliances, significantly increased for 4 Cancer Alliances and significantly decreased for 2 Cancer Alliances.
