Mental health dashboards

This page provides links to a number of dashboards. These are interactive visualisations containing data relating to mental health. These visualisations are mainly produced in Microsoft Power BI and allow users to interact with the data available.

We're keen to get feedback from users and interested parties to help us develop the mental health data hub. Please complete the short survey to let us know your views.

Mental Health Bulletin Report

The interactive report provides detailed visualisations on key mental health activity measures at the following levels: England, commissioning region, Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP), Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Local Authority District / Unitary Authority (LAD/UA) and provider.

Mental Health Act statistics

Interactive visualisations for rates of use of the Mental Health Act for different groups of people and information on data quality.

Mental health services monthly statistics

These visualisations present time-series data for selected high level measures from the Mental Health Services Monthly Statistics publication. Data is available from April 2016. These statistics relate to complete calendar month reporting periods. Although it's possible to select part-month start and end periods in these visualisations, the statistics are not provided at this level of detail.

Mental health services monthly statistics - Restrictive Interventions

Includes a new interactive report that allows users to explore data on restrictive interventions as reported in the Mental Health Services Dataset (MHSDS). As part of an improvement initiative there are a number of new metrics detailed below which are included in this dashboard.

Autism Waiting Times Statistics dashboard

This interactive report allows users to explore data on suspected autism referrals within the Mental Health Services Dataset. These statistics present data from April 2019 onwards.

Mental health services currency and payments

Interactive visualisations for currency and payments measures released in the Mental Health Services Monthly Statistics publication.

Mental Health of Children and Young People in England Survey

This interactive report shows the prevalence of children and young people with specific mental disorders by disorder, gender and age range. Surveys have been carried out in 1999, 2004, and 2017 using comparable methods so trends can be examined. The charts display data for all 3 surveys and the table compares the latest 2017 data with the previous 2004 data.

Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey

This interactive report shows the prevalence of people with common mental disorders by mental disorder, gender and age range. Surveys have been carried out in 1993, 2000, 2007 and 2014 using comparable methods so trends can be examined. The charts display data for all 4 surveys and the table compares the latest 2014 data with the previous 2007 data.

Psychological therapies

These interactive reports allows users to explore data on talking therapies, which are used to treat people with depression or anxiety covering monthly, quarterly and annual data for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT).

Mental health and learning disabilities workforce in the NHS

Data relating to staff who are either directly providing or supporting the provision of mental health services in secondary care are published by NHS Digital’s Workforce Statistics team. High level numbers are refreshed on a quarterly basis in an interactive report.
