How to use this tool

This tool is designed to improve readability and understanding of the summary reports made available following a data submission on the SDCS Cloud portal. The reject messages which are within the validations file, and the warning messages which are within the data quality file, can be summarised using this tool.

Further information on these reports is available in the SDCS Cloud Data Quality Guide, which can be found at Strategic Data Collection Service in the cloud (SDCS Cloud).

  1. Upon opening the tool please make sure you enable content if you are prompted to do so. You may see this in a horizontal yellow bar near the top of the Excel workbook described as 'Macros have been disabled'.
  2. Make sure formulas are set to automatic. To check this, go to the Formulas menu, see Calculation Options and select 'Automatic'.
  3. Copy and paste your data validation report data, or data quality report onto the ErrorCSV tab. Switch to the Main tab and click the Create Error List button. You should then be presented with a summarised count and description of the messages from your file
  4. The tool will describe messages from both 2.0 and the upcoming 2.1 versions of the dataset. As new versions of the dataset are released, this tool will be updated; please check you have the latest version of the tool before use.
