Establishment of information systems for NHS services: NHS App Directions 2018

Directions given by NHS England requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate a system for the collection of information to be known as the NHS App Direction 2018.

Purpose

NHS England have commissioned NHS Digital to establish the NHS App programme and develop the NHS App. The NHS App will provide a range of digital services to the public, available through a mobile App.

Legal basis

Sections 254(1), (3) and (6), section 274 (2), section 304 (9), (10) and (12) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.

The Directions came into force on 27 September 2018.

These Directions are no longer in force, they were revoked and replaced by the NHS App Directions 2023 dated 20 March 2023.
