Establishment of information systems for NHS Services: Emergency care data set collection Directions 2017
Directions given by NHS England requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate a system for the collection of information to be known as the emergency care data set collection information system.
To improve the quality of data collected in emergency departments relating to patient presentation, diagnosis, discharge and follow up to support a better understanding of the value added by the introduction of new models of care and ensure that patients are receiving care in the most appropriate care setting.

The Directions came into force on 11 September 2017.
