Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Risk Assessment Data Provision Notice
Overview
This data collection aims to to review the numbers and proportion of adult hospital admissions aged 18 and over who are being risk assessed for Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) to allow for the administering of appropriate prophylaxis based on national guidance from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
The National VTE prevention programme ensures that every adult patient has a documented VTE risk assessment on admission to hospital, and that this risk assessment is conducted in accordance with clinical risk assessment criteria that reflect NICE clinical guidelines. This collection enables performance in risk assessment to be reported and monitored nationally.
