Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) Data Set

Data Provision Notice to require the submission of data from the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) relating to the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme managed by King's College London on behalf of HQIP.

Overview

The data to be collected under this Notice relates to:

  • patient data submitted to King's College London under the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP).

This audit assesses the quality of the organisation and delivery of multi-disciplinary inpatient stroke health services. It audits the care provided for patients during and after they receive inpatient care following a stroke. The audit encompasses prospectively the details of care for every patient during their inpatient stay (acute and community hospital care) as well as outcomes and interventions during the six months following their stroke, and including the organisation of stroke services.

The SSNAP data is required by NHS Digital to support COVID-19 requests for linkage and analysis. These requests are often urgent and in support of direct care and service monitoring, planning and research.

Scope

This Notice is served on:

  • Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP).

Legal basis for provision of data

NHS Digital has been directed by the Secretary of State under section 254 of the Act to establish and operate a system for the collection and analysis of the information specified for this service.

Period of the collection

There will be an initial collection of historic data (covering from January 2018 to present), followed by monthly collections of up-to-date data.

If changes are required to this schedule, NHS Digital will agree with HQIP the frequency and manner of any subsequent collections.
