A&E Attendances and Emergency Admissions Monthly Situation Report

Data Provision Notice to require the submission of attendance and emergency admissions data from NHS trusts and independent sector organisations providing NHS-funded emergency care services.

Overview

NHS Digital manages the A&A Attendances and Emergency Admissions monthly situation report on behalf of NHS England.

Data comprises the total number of attendances in the specified period for all A&E types, including Minor Injury Units and Walk-in Centres, and of these, the number discharged, admitted or transferred within four hours of arrival. In addition the collection includes the number of emergency admissions, and any waits of over four hours for admission following decision to admit.


Legal basis


Scope

This Notice is served on:

all NHS trusts and independent sector organisations providing NHS-funded emergency care services, including:

  • all emergency care providers averaging more than 200 attendees per month, including Type 1, 2, and 3 (Urgent Treatment Centres)
  • all providers admitting at least 40 emergency patients per month.

Period

This is a monthly collection which started in 2001-02, with submission to NHS Digital starting in April 2018.
