Tell your patients about online GP registration

Use resources like QR codes, posters and website copy to let your patients know they can register online at your surgery.

Important information

All the materials on this page will be refreshed as we enhance and fine tune the service in line with feedback from patients and practices.

We will send an update to all participating practices when new versions become available.

Before you promote the service

Before you promote the service, you should place the 'copy for website', including the link to the online form for your surgery, on your practice website. This can be found in the section below.

It will ensure that patients who want to confirm if a text message they've received is genuine can do so without having to speak to a member of your staff. They will be able to get the reassurance they need from the practice website.

Read about how to make your registration link easier to find on your website.

Posters and QR codes

Put posters all around your practice or waiting areas and the front door of your Practice. Consider having a QR code that patients can click on in or around your reception or queuing area.

Create your own personalised QR code for free on google QR code generator or any other QR generator to direct your patients to your surgery’s online form. Add your QR code to the A4 poster, which you can use to direct your patients to your surgery’s specific online form.

Alternatively, you can download the materials below which enable patients to search for practices offering online registration using the Find a GP service. They refer to when you are most likely to need to register with a new GP practice - when you are needing help with registration, when you are moving house and when you are expecting a new arrival to the family.

Posters

Give to patients to explain about online registration.
