Following five years on the board of NHS Digital, Professor Soraya Dhillon and Dr Marko Balabanovic have announced their retirement.

Following five years on the board of NHS Digital, Professor Soraya Dhillon and Dr Marko Balabanovic have announced their retirement.

Professor Soraya Dhillon and Dr Marko Balabanovic, non-executive directors of NHS Digital, both complete their final term as members of the NHS Digital Board on 31 December 2021, concluding their five year tenure.

Professor Dhillon, who has been awarded an MBE for her contribution to health services, joined NHS Digital in January 2017.  During her tenure, she guided the work on clinical safety and governance, e-channels, and equality, diversity and inclusion.

Dr Balabanovic also joined NHS Digital in January 2017. During his tenure, he has led on innovation, emerging technologies, partnerships and technology transfer. 

Chair of the Board, Laura Wade-Gery said: “Marko and Soraya have each brought a tremendous depth of knowledge to our work at NHS Digital.

“Soraya’s extensive professional clinical expertise and knowledge of the health system has been invaluable to our work, as has Marko’s understanding of start-up enterprises which has showed how we can learn from industry experience.
