Logical Record Architecture API standards

API standards for a Logical Record Architecture (LRA) for use in health and social care.

These API standards are deprecated so we discourage their use for new applications.

Overview

Use these Logical Record Architecture (LRA) API standards to build IT systems with a common data structure across health and social care.

Use the LRA to determine what data should be shared across multiple applications within the NHS and Social Care as well as to determine how the data is managed, accessed and interpreted.

LRA is intended as a practical view or bridge between independent standards (professional, technical) each with its own community of practice, scope of authority or rate of change.

It proposes meaning and structure for reference in data interpretation when sharing between systems.

It does not dictate physical codes, field lengths, what data is mandatory or optional or how it should be displayed or messaged.

Status

These API standards are deprecated so we discourage their use for new applications.

Technology

These API standards use HL7 CDA and HL7 v3.
