Sub Integrated Care Board – 00N (South Tyneside) have informed us that their data for Q3 2022/23 is erroneous. This was due to local system errors and South Tyneside have been unable to obtain the correct data.

This report presents statistics on women’s smoking status at time of delivery, at Sub Integrated Care Board (Sub-ICB), Integrated Care Board (ICB), Commissioning Region and national levels. This release includes data for quarter 4 of 2022-23 alongside finalised data for the 2022-23 financial year.

Key facts are for annual or quarter 4, 2022-23
8.8% of women were smokers at time of delivery in 2022-23.
A 0.3 percentage point decrease from 2021-22 (9.1%), but still above the current national ambition of 6% or less.
8.7% of mothers were known to be smokers at the time of delivery in quarter 4 of 2022-23.
A 0.1 percentage point increase from quarter 3 of 2022-23 (8.6%), and above the national ambition of 6% or less.
11 out of 106 submitting Sub-ICBs met the national ambition of 6% or less in quarter 4 of 2022-23
