Data Quality

This section presents information for a variety of data quality measures for 2020/21 and across the previous 10 years.  For further information about data quality measures, please consult the Data Quality Statement, which accompanies this publication.

 

Proportion of unknown data items

The proportion of quit attempts where the outcome is unknown is 16% in 2020/21, which is the lowest level in the last 10 years. It has decreased annually from 23% in 2014/15.

 

The proportion of records with a missing socio-economic code is 9% in 2020/21 which is slightly higher than 2019/20 (8%) but lower than 2010/11 (16%).

 

Non-submitting local authorities

Fourteen LAs did not submit any data for 2020/21. Some non-submitting LAs will still be running Stop Smoking Services but not submitting data. Some LAs will no longer be running Stop Smoking Services. It is not possible to ascertain which category these non-submitting LAs fall into. The non-submitting LAs in 2020/21 are: Birmingham, Bolton, Bradford, Bristol, City of, Bromley, Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, City of London, Cumbria, Ealing, Hartlepool, Nottingham, Wolverhampton, York.

No estimates have been made for the LAs not submitting data.
