Summary
Based upon payments to staff between July and September 2008, we present estimates of annual basic pay and total earnings for NHS staff groups (excluding GPs and high street dentists). We've taken pay data from the 99 per cent of NHS organisations using the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) during the period. The methodology used to produce these estimates is available above.
Highlights
- Consultants are estimated to earn £118,700 per Full Time Equivalent (FTE) on the new contract, an increase of 4.3 per cent over the last 12 months. This compares to average FTE earnings of £101,800 for Consultants on the old contract. Note that this relates to NHS earnings only.
Note: This quarter's estimates include some backdated pay as the Agenda for Change pay award for 08-09 was implemented during the reporting period. This skews estimates upwards for this quarter, and so comparison with other estimates for estimating changes of pay for non medical staff is not advised.
