Summary

This report details the investment in General Practice from 2007/08 to 2011/12.

The report draws on information obtained from country level financial monitoring reports discussed by the Technical Steering Committee (TSC), which is chaired by the Health and Social Care Information Centre and has representation from the four UK Health Departments, NHS Employers and the British Medical Association.

For the period 2011/12:

  • In England annual investment was £8,397.0m , compared to £8,349.4m spent in 2010/11 (an increase of 0.6 per cent).
  • In Wales annual investment was £466.3m, compared to £463.6m spent in 2010/11 (an increase of 0.6 per cent).
  • In Northern Ireland annual investment was £236.2m, compared to £234.7m spent in 2010/11 (an increase of 0.6 per cent).
  • In Scotland annual investment was £747.9m, compared to £741.6m spent in 2010/11 (an increase of 0.9 per cent).
  • In the UK, annual investment was £9,847.5m compared to £9,789.4m spent in 2010/11 (an increase of 0.6 per cent)
