5.34 million sight tests were paid for by Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in England and Local Health Boards (LHBs) in Wales in the period October 2004 to March 2005. This was 2.3% less than the total for the period April to September 2004 (5.47 million) and 0.2% more than the period October 2003 to March 2004 (5.33 million).
PCTs/LHBs in England and Wales reimbursed vouchers for 1.90 million pairs of glasses in the period October 2004 to March 2005. This was 4.2% less than the total for the period April to September 2004 (1.98 million) and 1.3% less than the period October 2003 to March 2004 (1.92 million).
