The rate of people dying from cancer in England continued to decrease
Age-standardised mortality rates by gender
Tables 5 and 6 show that the age-standardised cancer mortality rate decreased for both males and females between 2019 and 2020. For males, the rate decreased from 307 deaths per 100,000 people in 2019 to 303 deaths per 100,000 people in 2020. Similarly, for females, the rate decreased from 216 deaths per 100,000 people in 2019 to 214 deaths per 100,000 people in 2020. These changes were similar to those seen between 2018 and 2019.
