Coverage

Coverage is defined as the percentage of women in the population who are eligible for screening at a particular point in time, who have had a test with a recorded result within the last three years.

Coverage of women aged 53-70 was 74.9% at 31 March 2018, a decrease of 0.5% compared with the coverage figure of 75.4% reported for 31 March 2017. See Figure 1 and Table A.

Coverage remains above the NHS Cancer Screening Programme's minimum standard of 70%.
