The purpose of NHS.UK is help citizens and patients take control of their health and wellbeing. 

The NHS website (nhs.uk) and YouTube channel (youtube.com/nhs) contains A-Z of health conditions, treatment options, medicines, and more. NHS Digital uses clinical photography and videos on the website in order to provide health and care information to the public, to help people make the best choices about their health and wellbeing. To make this content, NHS Digital uses real people, clinicians and sometimes actors to appear in videos and photographs, often talking about health related conditions and their own experiences. Note that this does not include content hosted on nhs.uk campaign microsites, such as, www.nhs.uk/better-health

The NHS website (nhs.uk) and YouTube channel (youtube.com/nhs) are published on the internet.

Is data transferred outside the UK? This data is not transferred out of the UK
How long the data is kept NHS.UK website images and video content is reviewed regularly. Content will be stored indefinitely unless the patient requests for them to be removed from the library, in which case we will securely destroy all personal data, or remove their likeness from the video in question.

NHS Digital has a Direction, HSCA 2012 s.254 (1) and s.254 (6) by the Secretary of State for Health to establish and operate the NHS Choices online services information or communications systems, which includes NHS.UK
