IGARD membership

IGARD is made up of independent specialist and lay members.

IGARD ended on the 31 January 2023

IGARD ceased on the 31 January 2023 when NHS Digital merged with NHS England. NHS England has established interim arrangements to receive independent advice.

Members of the Independent Group Advising on the Release of Data (IGARD) are independent from NHS Digital, and must meet the requirements set out within the IGARD member role profiles.  Members roles are the Chair, specialist member, or a lay member.

The members and Chair of IGARD are all independent: that is they will not otherwise hold substantive employment contracts with NHS Digital.
