GP Level Data Direction 2018

A Direction given by the Secretary of State for Health requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate a system for the collection and analysis of GP level data.

Purpose

The information to be collected is required to provide GPs with data for named patient lists. This will support one of the objectives in the Government’s mandate to NHS England for 2018-19 by enabling GPs to review and improve the quality of care and outcomes for their named patients.

Legal basis

Under section 254(1), 254(2)(b) and (6), 260(2)(d), 261(3), and 304(9), (10) and (12) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.

This Direction came into force 16 August 2018.
