Cost Recovery Collection, Processing and Dissemination of overseas visitor and UK Patient-Level Data Directions 2021

A Direction given by the Secretary of State for Health requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate a system for the collection and analysis of data associated with a patient’s eligibility for free NHS services.

Purpose

The information system established by this Direction supports the Government in ensuring that the NHS remains free at the point of use, for those that are entitled to use it.

Legal basis

Sections 254(1) and (6) and 304(9), (10), (11), and (12) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012 (the 2012 Act). This Direction comes into force on the 26 March 2021.
