Output your results from the NHS England Secure Data Environment (SDE)

An introduction to the Safe Output service offered by the NHS England Secure Data Environment (SDE).

This service lets researchers request approval to take analysis or code out of the Secure Data Environment (SDE).

You must submit all outputs for checking before you can download or share them.

Safe outputs for the NHS England SDE

The Output your results service is the implementation of the Safe Outputs principle from the Five Safes framework for the NHSE SDE.

The service applies statistical disclosure controls and established governance processes to support the safe dissemination of research findings. By enabling researchers to share robust evidence while protecting patient confidentiality, the service plays a vital role in maintaining public trust and confidence that health data are being used responsibly, securely, and for public benefit.
