Contacting patients for more information
What to do if you need to ask a patient additional questions.
What to do if you need additional information from a patient
It is important to know that the questions we ask during the online registration process are all that is needed to successfully progress a patient registration.
It is not possible for a patient to leave mandatory fields unanswered as the service uses data validation. This means that even if a patient's registration contains unanswered questions you should still have all the necessary information you need to progress their registration.
However, your practice might want to ask additional questions. You are encouraged to get in touch with the patient and follow your surgery's process for asking the additional questions you might need.
What to do if a patient cannot provide a permanent address
An individual does not need personal identification (ID), an NHS number or proof of address to register with a GP surgery. If they do not have a permanent address you can still register them using a temporary address or the address of your surgery.
