Expert guidance on the technology, solutions and processes of networks and connectivity to support NHS organisations with delivery of better and more efficient health and care services.

The Networks and Connectivity Centre of Excellence supports the NHS to get the most out of its existing wired and wireless networks deployments and infrastructure. We provide expert guidance on the technology, solutions and processes of networks and connectivity to support  NHS organisations  with the delivery of better and more efficient health and care services.

Guidance

The centre of excellence produces expert technical knowledge products and guidance on wired and wireless connectivity technologies to support the NHS to plan and deliver the right connectivity to meet local needs.

Health focused expert knowledge and further resources are available to help NHS organisations plan and deliver innovative connectivity solutions.

Resilience and efficiency self assessment tool

With a greater reliance on connectivity across the NHS in both primary and secondary care, there is an increasing need to ensure appropriate resilience for network connectivity. This resilience is needed to enable best value continuity of digital services in the event of disruption, and to meet the digital demands of the workforce and service users.

We support all NHS organisations to identify and achieve adequate and appropriate provision for network resilience. This support aims to mitigate vulnerabilities and reduce network and connectivity operating costs.

We have developed a Resilience and Efficiency Self-Assessment Framework Tool to support integrated care boards (ICBs) and providers. The tool provides a view of their organisations’ connectivity estate and supports development of robust business cases for local connectivity investment.

National guidance on resilience has been produced to support the tool and covers the key areas of network resilience and efficiency. The guidance shows how maturity against these capabilities can be achieved, and the importance of a well-designed and resilient network for NHS organisations.

The Resilience and Efficiency Self Assessment Framework Tool is now available.
