Expert guidance on the technology, solutions and processes of networks and connectivity to support NHS organisations with delivery of better and more efficient health and care services.

The Networks and Connectivity Centre of Excellence supports the NHS to get the most out of its existing wired and wireless networks deployments and infrastructure. We provide expert guidance on the technology, solutions and processes of networks and connectivity to support NHS organisations  with the delivery of better and more efficient health and care services.

Guidance

The centre of excellence produces expert technical knowledge products and guidance on wired and wireless connectivity technologies to support the NHS to plan and deliver the right connectivity to meet local needs.

Health focused expert knowledge and further resources are available to help NHS organisations plan and deliver innovative connectivity solutions.

Networks and Connectivity self-assessment tools

With a greater reliance on connectivity across the NHS in both primary and secondary care, there is an increasing need to:

  • provide the NHS workforce with improved connectivity off the NHS estate
  • provide the NHS workforce with improved access to wireless connectivity across sites with simplified unified access
  • enable NHS providers to ensure robust and resilient core network infrastructure to support continued digital transformation and support workforce productivity

This connectivity infrastructure is needed to ensure best value from digital services, maintain service continuity during disruptions, and meet the digital needs of staff and service users.

We support all NHS organisations to identify and achieve adequate and appropriate provision for their networks and connectivity, both on and off the NHS estate.

We have developed 3 self-assessment tools to support integrated care boards (ICBs) and providers. These tools allow organisations to capture a view of their organisations’ connectivity estate and support development of robust business cases for local connectivity investment.

We've produced national guidance to help you use the tools. The guidance shows how maturity against each capability can be achieved and measured, and the importance of well-designed and resilient networks for all NHS organisations.

The Networks and Connectivity self-assessment tools are available to complete now.

First time users will need to request access

For guidance on using the tools see Networks and Connectivity self-assessment tools. (Futures log in required.)
