NHS Digital Staff Passport

NHS Digital Staff Passport is a service that helps employees to move quickly and easily between NHS trusts.

Staff can quickly and securely share information including employment checks, core skills and occupational health, reducing form filling and repeated training.

What does the service do?

Digital Staff Passport makes onboarding easier, faster and less repetitive.

When NHS employees move between trusts, they can quickly and securely transfer information the new trust needs, including:

  • pre-employment check information, such as identity, right to work, DBS check, professional registration and employment history
  • core skills training
  • occupational health

This means less form filling, employment checks and repeated training.

Register for the service

If a trust has invited you to register, select the link in the email you've received to get started.

Read about what to do if you've had an email from more than one trust and you do not know which email to use.

Who can register

For now, two NHS staff groups are invited to register:

  • temporary movers, who remain employed by their current NHS employer and will work at another NHS trust for an agreed period
  • postgraduate doctors in training, who rotate between trusts as part of their training programme

These staff members can use the service if their trust is on the list of registered trusts.

The long-term plan is for all NHS staff groups to be able to use Digital Staff Passport.

How does it work?
