CIS2 Authentication release 12.02

CIS2 Authentication will release version 12.02 on 28 September 2026, subject to final approval.

Notification to upgrade old Credential Management and Smartcard Connect versions

As part of our ongoing work to maintain the security and reliability of CIS2 Authentication, we are preparing to retire older versions of Credential Management (CM) following the release of Smartcard Connect v4.1.

What this means for you

Users running an older version of Credential Management or Smartcard Connect will now see an upgrade notification during the authentication journey, informing them their current version needs to be updated or they will not be able to authenticate.

Organisations should ensure their IT departments upgrade to a supported version of Smartcard Connect in the first instance or Credential Management.

This applies to the following Credential Management versions:

• 1.0.10.0
• 1.0.2.0
• 1.0.8.0
• 1.0.9.0
• 1.1.0.0
• 1.1.6.0
• 1.100.0.0
• 1.2.2.0
• 1.3.1.0

Smartcard Connect versions being retired

This applies to the following Smartcard Connect versions:

• 3.0.0.2
• 3.1.0.1
• 3.10.9.0
• 3.13.5.0
• 3.2.2.0

Why we are doing this

Retiring older versions helps us maintain a secure, reliable and supportable service, ensuring users benefit from the latest security updates, fixes and supported functionality.

Users receiving the notification should upgrade as soon as possible to avoid future disruption to their authentication journey.
