Integration needs

To connect to national digital services, the Medicus team needed to integrate their product with a number of our APIs, including the Personal Demographics FHIR API, the Electronic Prescription Service FHIR API and the Summary Care Record FHIR API

The integration experience

The team found the integration process ran smoothly with APIs built to modern standards, high-quality guidance readily available to developers via the developer and integration hub, and the opportunity to test throughout.

Emile Axelrad, Medicus’ CEO, said:

“NHS Digital’s suite of modern, FHIR-based APIs has made integration so much easier. Clear documentation, straightforward authentication and good testing environments. Without them it would have been much more difficult, if not impossible, to complete the integration”.

“Medicus has been able to build a product for GPs that offers additional capabilities beyond the GP IT Futures foundation requirements, which could remove the need to purchase peripheral software. This has been possible, at least in part, because of the time and financial savings gained through integration with NHS Digital’s APIs.”
