Monthly HES data for Admitted Patient Care
In the year from July 2018 to June 2019 there were:
• 20.9 million finished consultant episodes (FCEs), 58.0 per cent (12.1 million) of which included at least one procedure or intervention, and 7.4 million of which were day cases.
• 17.2 million finished admission episodes (FAEs), of which 6.5 million were emergency admissions.
Monthly HES data for Outpatients
In the year from July 2018 to June 2019 there were:
• 122.7 million outpatient appointments made, with 95.8 million (78.1 per cent) of these attended by the patient.
• 7.8 million outpatient appointments not attended by the patient, representing 6.4 per cent of all appointments
Monthly HES data for Accident & Emergency
In the year from July 2018 to June 2019 there were:
• 22.2 million A&E attendances recorded in A&E HES of which 3.5 million (16.0 per cent) resulted in admission to hospital for admitted patient care. 3.0 million (13.4 per cent) resulted in a GP follow up, and 9.8 million (44.2 per cent) were discharged with no follow up.

Also included within this release is supplementary analysis that has been produced in addition to the Retrospective Review of Surgery for Urogynaecological Prolapse and Stress Urinary Incontinence using Tape or Mesh: Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), Experimental Statistics, April 2008 - March 2017. It contains a count of Finished Consultant Episodes (FCEs) where a procedure for urogynaecological prolapse or stress urinary incontinence using tape or mesh has been recorded during the April 2019 to June 2019 period.
Also included within this release is supplementary analysis that has been produced to in addition to the Retrospective Review for Earliest Clinically Appropriate Date wider goals of the Ophthalmology transformation program. It contains a count of Outpatient appointments where the Earliest Clinically Appropriate Date is present and the treatment specialty is ophthalmology. This is displayed by provider and month recorded during the April 2019 to June 2019 period.
