Establishment of information systems for NHS Services: personal health budget collection Directions 2017

Directions given by NHS England requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate a system for the collection of information to be known as the personal health budgets collection information system.

Purpose

To support the NHS Mandate objective for between 50-100,000 people to have a personal health budget by 2020/21. The data collected will be used to monitor progress against trajectories submitted by Clinical Commissioning Groups regarding the numbers of personal health budgets that will be in place by the end of 2019.

Personal Health Budget (PHB)

A personal health budget is an amount of money to support a person's identified health and wellbeing needs. It is planned and agreed between the person and their local NHS team, or with a partner organisation on behalf of the NHS.
