Electronic Prescription Service for Isle of Man Request 2026

Formal request from the Isle of Man Department of Health and Social Care to establish and operate information systems for the Electronic Prescription Service for the Isle of Man

Purpose

Formal request from the Isle of Man Department of Health and Social Care to provision the existing English Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) to NHS services and organisations in the Isle of Man.

The purpose of this request is to provision the existing English Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) to NHS services and organisations in the Isle of Man to enable:  prescribers to process prescriptions more efficiently and spend less time dealing with prescription queries

  • dispensers to reduce use of paper, have improved stock control, and provide a more efficient service to patients
  • where appropriate, patients to collect repeat prescriptions from a pharmacy without visiting their GP, and without a paper prescription.

As the existing English EPS service is developed and expanded it is anticipated that any additional functionality will be extended to NHS Services and organisations in the Isle of Man.
