GP workload survey

In late 2006, we collected data on workload from GPs and practice staff from a sample of GP practices across the UK.

Participants completed a questionnaire and diary sheet to record time spent carrying out a variety of primary care activities.

The results were published on 31 July 2007, in the 2006/07 UK GP workload survey report.

Non-participating practices can access the survey spreadsheets and guidance to conduct the survey themselves by downloading the following files, which are copies of the files sent to GP practices in September 2006 , the first of the two survey weeks.

General Practice Workload Survey 2006/07: Invitation letter

General Practice Workload Survey 2006/07: Letter to GP practice manager

General Practice Workload Survey 2006/07: Letter to GP practice staff

General Practice Workload Survey 2006/07: Questionnaire for GP practice manager

The results should provide an insight into how practice skill mix and workload interact. If you have any questions on the survey, please email [email protected]. We would also welcome comments or suggestions at the same email address.
