Norman is a newly observed C-- based cryptocurrency miner targeting Windows desktop and server systems.

Microsoft Windows Server - All versions

Threat details

At the time of publication, it is unclear how Norman is delivered, although all known instances of it have been observed in conjunction with an unnamed backdoor, indicating it may installed as a secondary payload.

Once installed, Norman will deploy an XMRig module and connect to one of several mining pool URLs via the DuckDNS service.
