First observed in January 2019, CryptostealerGo is an information stealing trojan written in the Golang programming language.

Threat details

CryptostealerGo is delivered as a link distributed through targeted spam or phishing campaigns. When clicked, this link connects to a [command and control|] (C2) server, at which point CryptoseatlerGo is downloaded.

Once installed, CryptostealerGo will search for specific filepaths related to a number of internet browsers before attempting to inject a module to monitor these applications when in use. It will then identify and extract any cryptocurrency wallet keys and copy the contents of the Desktop. This information is then collated into a TXT file and sent back to the C2 server
