At the time of publication it is unclear how GarrantyDecrypt is distributed, but as with most ransomware it is likely to be delivered in spam or malvertising campaigns.
The ransomware appends the .decryptgarranty extension to encrypted files. A ransom note is saved demanding contact from affected users.

A new spam campaign has been observed using lure documents purporting to be from Proton Technologies, a legitimate mail and VPN hosting company, to deliver GarrantyDecrypt.
